Our friends at Food and Water Watch recently released a study on how Los Angeles can transition to 100% renewable energy in just over the next decade. A Pathway to 100% Renewable Energy by 2030, prepared by energy consulting firm Synapse, shows that L.A.’s municipal power utility can get off fossil fuels by investing in energy efficiency, rooftop solar energy, and other decentralized sources.
Los Angeles has the opportunity to lead on clean energy by phasing out dirty energy sources like fossil fuels and nuclear energy and replacing them with solar, wind and geothermal energy. This report offers a pathway forward that saves money for L.A. ratepayers through the development of clean energy sources along with energy efficiency, demand response, energy-saving programs and distributed small-scale energy generation.
